The Symphonova Orchestra

The Symphonova Orchestra is a pioneering force. It’s the first orchestra to integrate technology for the purpose of performing the beloved Classical repertoire. Led by conductor and music technologist Shelley Katz, the Symphonova Orchestra consists of a small group of skilled and enthusiastic soloists, who share the vision to re-new the orchestral experience. The Orchestra’s readiness to take risks, challenge conventions and celebrate innovation captures creators’ imagination and the attention of forward-looking audiences.

In the last four years, the Symphonova Orchestra has performed in numerous venues that couldn’t otherwise provide their audiences with the richness and power of the symphonic repertoire.

The Orchestra specialises in repertoire that requires the biggest orchestras. With its small-scale, the Symphonova Orchestra performs the major orchestral works with the intimacy, flexibility and freedom of expression of a chamber group. And the use of cutting-edge technology enhances the orchestra’s qualities of unity and accuracy.

The Symphonova is keen to promote high quality but forgotten repertoire; its first CD of previously unrecorded Canadian music is a prime example. And in the context of new music, Symphonova works closely with composers who are thrilled by the scope of possibilities now available to them.

The Symphonova is in a very exciting stage of its development. Following a series of successful road-tests it is now ready to share its innovative approach to music-making with audiences everywhere.
